Ditec automatic door repair in Toronto

KDL Locksmith repairs Ditec sliding and swing door operators in Toronto and the GTA. Ditec is an Italian brand that is now part of ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems. In GTA buildings you'll mostly see the Ditec Valor sliding operator on retail and lobby entrances, and Ditec swing operators on interior and accessible doors.

Common Ditec problems we fix:

  • Sliding panels that stop part-way or reverse because a sensor is dirty, misaligned or failing

  • A worn drive belt or carriage wheels that make the door noisy or jerky

  • Control settings (speed, hold-open time, force) that drifted and need to be reset

dormakaba automatic door repair in Toronto

KDL Locksmith repairs dormakaba automatic door operators in Toronto and the GTA. dormakaba is the Swiss company formed when Dorma and Kaba merged. The swing operators we see most are the ED100 and ED250, which come in full-automatic and low-energy versions.

Common dormakaba problems we fix:

  • A swing door that opens but won't close fully, or closes too hard

  • Opening speed, force or hold-open time that no longer suits how the door is used

  • Push buttons, wireless receivers or activation sensors that stopped triggering the door

Besam automatic door repair in Toronto

KDL Locksmith repairs Besam sliding and swing door operators in Toronto and the GTA. Besam is part of ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems. Typical units are the Besam SW200i swing operator and the UniSlide sliding system, where the drive, control unit and transmission sit together in one header.

Common Besam problems we fix:

  • Swing operators that hum without moving the door

  • Sliding doors that bump, drag or stop because of track debris or worn rollers

  • Safety sensors that keep the door open, or fail to stop it when someone is in the path

Horton automatic door repair in Toronto

KDL Locksmith repairs Horton automatic doors in Toronto and the GTA. Horton Automatics makes sliding operators such as the Series 2000 and 2001, and swing operators such as the Series 4000 and the barrier-free Series 7000.

Common Horton problems we fix:

  • Sliding doors that open slowly, stall or reverse partway

  • Swing operators that won't respond to the push button

  • Door and header alignment problems that make the operator strain and wear out early

Tormax automatic door repair in Toronto

KDL Locksmith repairs Tormax automatic door operators in Toronto and the GTA. Tormax is a Swiss brand. Its iMotion 1301 swing operator and iMotion 2301 sliding operator are built for heavy-use entrances such as hospitals, clinics and busy commercial buildings.

Common Tormax problems we fix:

  • Doors that stopped working after a power outage or surge

  • Error codes, or a door stuck in the wrong operating mode

  • Activation and safety sensors that need cleaning, adjustment or replacement

Micom door operator repair in Toronto

KDL Locksmith repairs Micom door operators in Toronto and the GTA. Micom is a Canadian manufacturer, and its operators are common in Ontario offices, condos and accessible washrooms. You'll usually find the Smart Swing (low-energy swing) and Smart Slide operators, often paired with Micom push buttons and washroom control kits.

Common Micom problems we fix:

  • Accessible washroom doors where the push-to-lock, occupied light or emergency release stopped working

  • Dead wireless push buttons, often a battery or a receiver pairing issue

  • Low-energy swing doors that open too fast, too slow, or not far enough

Hunter automatic door repair in Toronto

KDL Locksmith repairs Hunter swing door operators in Toronto and the GTA. Hunter operators, such as the HA-8 low-energy swing operator, are an older brand still in service on many accessible doors in GTA buildings.

Common Hunter problems we fix:

  • Older operators that are weak, noisy or slow after years of use

  • Worn gears or a tired motor, where we'll tell you honestly whether a repair is worth it

  • Push buttons and wiring that need replacing

Rhinotek automatic door repair in Toronto

KDL Locksmith repairs Rhinotek automatic door operators in Toronto and the GTA. Rhinotek is a Toronto-based automatic door company. Its operators include the Rhino7000 swing operator and the Rhino4800, an in-floor operator for doors with no room overhead.

Common Rhinotek problems we fix:

  • Swing and in-floor operators that stop opening, or open unevenly

  • Doors that won't hold open or won't latch when they close

  • Activation devices and safety sensors that need adjustment

Whatever the brand, call 416-303-0255 and tell us the make on the operator cover if you can see it. It helps us bring the right tools. More on our automatic door repair service in Toronto.

Repair or replace the operator?

Most automatic door problems are repairs: a sensor, a push button, a belt, a setting, or a door that needs realigning. Replacing the whole operator makes sense when:

  • The motor or gearbox is worn out and the operator is old enough that a new unit is better value

  • The control board has failed and a replacement board isn't available for that model

  • The door's use has changed, for example a busier entrance that now needs a heavier-duty or full-energy operator

  • You're upgrading an entrance for accessibility and the existing unit can't meet the requirement

We'll tell you which one it is before any work starts. See automatic door motor replacement in Toronto for what a replacement involves.

What to check before you call

  1. Power: check the breaker and any power switch on or near the operator header.

  2. Mode switch: many operators have a key or rocker switch (off, automatic, hold-open, exit only). Make sure it hasn't been switched off or locked.

  3. Sensors: wipe the sensor lenses and clear anything near the door that could keep it open, such as signs, mats or stock.

  4. Push buttons: if a wireless button stopped working, the battery is the most common cause.

  5. After an outage: some operators need a reset or a relearn cycle once power comes back.

Step-by-step help: automatic door not opening and automatic door not working after a power outage. If the door is a safety risk, for example it closes on people or won't stop, switch it off and call us.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need the manufacturer to repair my Horton or dormakaba door?

No. A qualified automatic door technician can service most makes. If your operator is still under the manufacturer's warranty, check the warranty terms first, because some require the manufacturer or its dealer to do the work.

Can one company service different automatic door brands in the same building?

Yes. Many GTA buildings have a mix, for example Besam sliding doors at the main entrance and Micom or Hunter swing operators on washrooms and suites. KDL Locksmith services all eight brands covered here, so one call covers the building.

How do I know which brand of automatic door operator I have?

The brand name is usually printed on the operator cover (the header box above the door) or on a label inside it. If you can't find it, send us a photo of the header and the door when you request service.

What standards apply to automatic doors?

In North America, full-power automatic doors are covered by ANSI/BHMA A156.10, and low-energy and power-assist swing doors by ANSI/BHMA A156.19. In Ontario, the Building Code's barrier-free rules also require power door operators at many entrances and universal washrooms. Your door should be set up for the standard that matches how it's used.

Do you repair automatic doors outside Toronto?

Yes. KDL Locksmith serves Toronto and the GTA from 2060 Steeles Ave W, Unit 4, Vaughan. We're a family business, in the trade since 1988.
