Deadbolt and lock replacement

Old or broken deadbolts, worn knobs and levers, and locks that stick or no longer catch. We replace them with hardware that fits the door and the way you use it, from standard residential deadbolts to high-security cylinders.

Home rekeying and lost keys

When you buy a home, lose a key, or stop trusting who has a copy, rekeying changes the pins inside your existing locks so old keys stop working. It is usually quicker and cheaper than replacing the hardware, and we will tell you which one your door actually needs.

Front door handlesets and grip sets

Handlesets, grip sets and matching interior trim from Schlage, Weiser, Emtek, Baldwin and Winly. We install new hardware on existing doors, including drilling and prep for doors that were never bored for it.

Multipoint locks for doors and patio sliders

Multipoint locks throw bolts at the top, middle and bottom of the door with one turn. We repair and replace GU and Hoppe multipoint systems on entry doors and patio doors. Read more on our multipoint lock repair page.

High-security locks

KDL Locksmith is an authorized Mul-T-Lock and Medeco dealer. Restricted keys cannot be copied at a hardware store, and the cylinders resist picking, drilling and bumping. We supply the full Mul-T-Lock and Medeco lines for homes.

Keypad and electronic locks

Keypad deadbolts and smart locks for front doors, side doors and rental units, so you can give a code instead of a key. We install and program them and make sure the door closes and latches properly, which is what most keypad-lock problems come down to. See electronic locks.

Door reinforcement and steel doors

A good lock on a weak door is still a weak door. We reinforce strike plates, jambs and hinges with commercial-grade hardware, and supply steel doors where a wood door is not enough. Read more on our door reinforcement page.

Interior doors, mortise locks and pocket doors

Interior mortise locks, privacy and passage sets, dummy trim and pocket-door pulls, matched to the rest of the house. We also fix stiff doors and doors that are stubborn to open, which is often a hinge or alignment problem rather than the lock.

Home safes

Fire and burglary safes from Uscan, Gardall and AMSEC, delivered and anchored in place. We also open safes when the combination is lost, and service and repair them. See safes in Toronto.

Frequently asked questions

Should I rekey or replace my locks after moving in?

If the hardware is in good shape, rekey it: old keys stop working and you keep the locks. Replace when the lock is worn, low-grade, or you want a keypad or high-security cylinder.

Can you install a lock on a door that has no hole for one?

Yes. We drill and prep wood, fibreglass and steel doors for deadbolts, handlesets and mortise locks.

Do you repair multipoint locks on patio doors?

Yes. We repair and replace GU and Hoppe multipoint locks on entry and patio doors. If the gearbox has failed we replace the mechanism and keep your existing handles where possible.

Do you come to my home?

Yes. We work on site across Toronto and the GTA, Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
