How Medeco resists attack

A Medeco key has cuts at different angles, not just different depths. Each pin has to be lifted to the right height and rotated to the right angle before a sidebar lets the cylinder turn. That two-step alignment is what makes standard picking and bumping ineffective. Hardened inserts protect the shear line from drilling.

Medeco's strength in commercial work is its key systems. Large master key systems with different access levels, used by offices, schools and healthcare buildings, are a long-standing Medeco specialty.

How Mul-T-Lock resists attack

Mul-T-Lock cylinders use telescopic pins: an outer pin with a second pin sliding inside it. Both have to align, which multiplies the possible combinations and defeats standard picks and bump keys. Models such as the MT5+ add a movable element in the key and further key control.

Key control: the part people overlook

A high-security lock only stays secure if nobody can copy the key. Both brands use restricted keyways: blanks aren't sold to hardware stores or key kiosks, and an authorized dealer cuts copies only for the registered owner.
